Barcelona, ES 📍🇪🇸
I spent my semester abroad living in Barcelona’s Poblenou neighborhood, where I balanced classes with exploring the city's vibrant culture. Between morning café con leches and late-night tapas, I connected with locals, and even picked up some Catalan phrases. I advanced my degree by taking three courses, but the real education came from navigating bustling markets, cheering at FC Barcelona matches, and mastering the art of the sobremesa. From beachside study sessions to weekend trips across Europe, Barcelona became more than just a destination—it was home.
Madrid, ES 📍🇪🇸
My first European city adventure took me to Madrid in March 2023, and now in January 2024, I came right in time for my friend Lolita's birthday bash and a reunion with the Vanderbilt crowd studying abroad. Based in the bustling Gran Vía area, I dove into the city’s vibrant life with my friends. We indulged in some of the city’s finest paella, toasted with exquisite local wines, and soaked up the lively atmosphere that only Madrid can offer. It was also a special trip because it was my mom's first visit to Europe, and Madrid quickly became her favorite city. It was a perfect blend of celebration and exploration in Spain’s heart.
